Look it up, see if it is for you.
> Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a structured, goal-oriented form of psychotherapy that focuses on the relationship between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is a highly effective, evidence-based, short-term treatment designed to help individuals identify, challenge, and replace unhelpful, negative thought patterns and behaviors with healthier, more functional ones to improve emotional regulation.
Now.. this presumes that the therapist has a more competent cognition than the individual.. and there is a lot of manipulation hidden right there in that definition, or whatever form the definition takes.
This got me to wondering - should really CBT stand for -
* Coercive Brainwashing Technique..
* -OR-
* Cognitive Behavior Therapy
?
I was offered an option to do CBT. I wasn't interested at the time, but then I came to realize why.
I know I would never debase myself to subject myself to that..
I could question any therapist, use the downward arrow technique on their beliefs ( why do you feel like discarding is the right solution here ? ), or question their entire world view and their training..
