This may seem obvious, but sometimes the most helpful thing is the most obvious..
If you happen to be keeping / collecting any container-like items of the above kind - they can be used to package smaller bits or each other.
I've been doing that, a lot.
A bag of ( folded ) bags, or plastic / metal lids.
A jar of bottle caps.
A metal jar of nails.
Bags, even broken ones, used as sleeves for carrying and/or hanging long objects.
Charging cords with broken-off connectors used as cords for hanging things.
Over-creativity !
Just make sure to properly organize and label containers, to make it easy to use.
Why aren't the "experts" mentioning this obvious idea ?
All they can think of is discarding, including the very things that can help, that can make it easier, that can reduce or eliminate chaos..
