This applies to a lot of "experts" with focus on a specific area.
The "hoarding" "experts", for example, think that possessions are the source of all problems, and therefore, dealing with - eliminating - discarding - possessions is the best solution.
A finanical "expert" will likewise focus on finances, completely ( and understandably ) oblivious to what else might be going on - sometime to the point of absurdity - they might suggest retirements savings while there's an active high-interest loan outstanding and liquidity is simply insufficient, yet they suggest taking even more of it off the table for this.. true story, been there, they don't even ask any questions to discover this.
A frustrated family member will have whatever is on their radar pegged as the most important.
And none of these will ask - what is the overall situation ?
Well, somebody should.
Might have to be you.
Prepare to get ignored.
